Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle

I think some of you wonder why I wrote "Japanese most famous". It is often thought that only one type of beetle exists in Japan, but actually not. There are five species of beetles in Japan but the Rhinoceros beetle has the largest living area, and most people are familiar with it. And did you know that it is actually found overseas? In this put, I will introduce the ecology and where is it living.

In Japan, it lives in Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. And it also lives in Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula, China, and Indochina. The beetle is northern limit was believed to be Aomori and although it was not originally in Hokkaido, it was introduced artificially and has been established as a domestic invasive species since the 1970s. The Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle is basically nocturnal. They are thought to rest during the day at the base of trees, under humus or dead leaves, and the Taiwanese subspecies, the horned longhorn beetle, has been reported to rest in tree canopies. They begin their activities at dusk and gather at feeding grounds. Before dawn, they move back to safer areas, but if they are unable to feed at night for some reason, such as losing a battle for a feeding ground, or if they are female egg-laying females, they may continue feeding during the daytime.

I personally believe that the Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle is the strongest shape. Please watch this video↓

As you can see in this video, it is shaped to push up from below, making it almost impossible to lose in a territorial fight. This beetle has a milder personality than other insects and it does not like to fight. I would love to see beetles in the wild again and feel the summer, but recently I can't see them these days because some forest areas have been turning into residential areas.

Most Beautiful Butterfly "Morpho"

I would like to introduce one of my favorite insects, the Morpho butterfly .  This butterfly is a bit famous among insect fans. There are 80 species of them and most of them are in Brazil.  Morpho from various angles 　　　　　　　　　　　　　 It looks like the color is blue, but the Morpho not have real blue wings. This time, I won't to write about how it lives, but rather the mechanism why these wings look blue. The wings of this morpho butterfly have no blue pigment and it doesn't have a specific color. The scales regulate the wavelength of blue light. This is why they appear blue. Caucasian Beetle VS Atlas Beetle VS Moellenkampi Beetle

This insect's name is  Caucasian beetle .   It is my most favorite insect.   He has three horns but not enough weight to beat other beetles. But why I like it is because of its cool shape and color. This metallic green and this shape that looks like a cross between a Stag Beetle and Hercules tickles my fancy. However, there are similar species of Caucasian beetles which are called Molenkampi beetle and Atlas beetle.
